01 · OVERVIEW

What makes this program different?

UTM Commerce combines economics with accounting, finance, marketing, and broader commerce study. Students can pursue specialist programs in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Marketing.

High-school applicants enter First-Year Studies in Commerce rather than an unconditional specialist. They secure a place in the BCom after completing the required first-year courses, grades, total credits, good standing, and the year’s competitive selection process.

THE SHORT VERSION

UTM Commerce suits students who want a U of T BCom in Mississauga, are comfortable with economics and calculus, and understand that progression into the Commerce program occurs after first year.

02 · ADMISSION

Understand the academic threshold.

Ontario applicants currently need the OSSD, six Grade 12 U/M courses, English, Advanced Functions, and Calculus and Vectors for First-Year Studies in Commerce.

Plan for both admission stages.

Applicants first apply to UTM Commerce through OUAC. After enrolling, they must complete the required first-year pathway and apply or qualify for the Commerce subject program according to current rules.

The most important question is not only whether you can enter UTM. It is whether the economics, accounting, and calculus-heavy first year suits you and whether you can manage the separate progression process.

04 · PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Foundation first. Direction next.

Students build a quantitative commerce foundation before entering one of four specialist routes.

HIGH SCHOOL

Enter First-Year Commerce

Apply with the required English, Advanced Functions, Calculus, and overall academic record.

YEAR 1

Meet progression conditions

Complete management, accounting, economics, calculus, total-credit, and good-standing requirements.

YEARS 2–4

Complete a specialist

Develop depth in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Marketing with advanced BCom study.

The official admissions page currently lists 63% minimums in MGM101, MGT120, ECO101, and ECO102, plus the prescribed calculus combination and 4.0 credits; the competitive cutoff can still vary.

Students must use the current academic calendar and program maps because course requirements and acceptable equivalents can change.

05 · EXPERIENCE

A close campus community sits inside the broader U of T system.

UTM CO-OP INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Eligible students can explore a structured internship pathway; verify current admission and sequence.

PROGRAM MAPS

Current maps connect academic requirements, career development, and co-curricular planning.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Competitions, seminars, workshops, and societies help students build professional skills.

U OF T NETWORK

Students study within a major research university while building a Mississauga campus identity.

Planning point

Internship access, club participation, and the U of T name are opportunities—not automatic outcomes. Students need strong performance, initiative, and practical skill development.

06 · CAREERS

Turn the degree into a direction.

The four specialists can support accounting, finance, marketing, analytics, consulting, corporate roles, public-sector work, entrepreneurship, and graduate or professional study.

Minimum progression grades are not a promise of program admission when the exact cutoff changes with demand.

Students pursuing CPA or another credential must follow the relevant current specialist and course sequence.

07 · COST & FINANCIAL AID

Budget the complete experience.

Use U of T’s current fees pages and budget tuition, incidental fees, books, housing or commuting, food, transportation, and internship-program charges if applicable.

IMPORTANT

For commuters, travel time is part of the cost. Compare UTM with UTSC and Rotman based on campus, degree, progression, work experience, and daily routine—not just the U of T name.
