What makes this program different?
UBC Sauder blends a broad commerce foundation with ten specialization choices. Students study at UBC’s large Vancouver campus and can add exchange, clubs, case competitions, entrepreneurship, community projects, and career programming.
Admission is holistic. UBC reviews academic performance and the personal profile, including Commerce-specific written responses and a video interview. Strong marks matter, but applicants must also communicate experiences, reflection, and fit.
Best suited to students who want a major university campus, a broad BCom, West Coast and global exposure, and the chance to add structured co-op after entering the degree.
Understand the academic threshold.
Ontario applicants must meet UBC’s general and Commerce-specific requirements, including the English-language standard and required senior-level courses. UBC considers Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses, with emphasis on subjects related to the degree.
- Ontario diplomaComplete the OSSD and UBC’s required academic courses for Canadian high-school applicants.
- EnglishMeet UBC’s English Language Admission Standard and the senior English requirement shown in the official province selector.
- MathematicsComplete the senior mathematics prerequisite identified for Commerce in UBC’s Ontario course selector.
- Academic reviewUBC examines overall achievement, course selection, and performance in degree-related subjects.
UBC does not publish a fixed guaranteed Commerce cutoff. Requirements and competitive ranges can change, so use the official Canadian high-school course selector for your exact graduating year.
Your personal profile is part of admission.
Most high-school applicants complete UBC’s personal profile. Commerce applicants receive program-specific written questions and a video interview within the application.

- BCom video interview included in the profile
- Application details can change by intake

- Show reflection, growth, and community impact
- Practise concise video answers without scripting them
- Complete the profile early enough to review it
The strongest response is not a résumé in paragraph form. Choose experiences you genuinely understand, explain what you did and learned, and connect your thinking to how you would contribute at UBC.
Foundation first. Direction next.
Students build a common business base before developing depth through one of ten specializations and a wide range of electives and experiences.
Build the foundation
Study core subjects such as economics, mathematics, writing, and introductory business while adjusting to university.
Expand the core
Develop skills across accounting, finance, marketing, organizational behaviour, operations, analytics, and communication.
Specialize and apply
Complete a specialization, advanced commerce courses, electives, projects, exchange, or co-op where eligible.
Current specializations include Accounting, Business Technology Management, Entrepreneurship, Finance, General Business Management, Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management, Marketing, Operations and Logistics, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources, and Real Estate.
Specialization access, course sequencing, and graduation rules should be checked in the current UBC calendar and MyBCom planning resources.
A global campus with optional structured work.
Accepted students complete three four-month paid work terms, normally beginning after at least second year.
Sauder promotes 61 partner schools in 30 countries for international study.
Coaching, recruiting preparation, employer engagement, and job-search tools support career development.
Commerce clubs, case competitions, conferences, entrepreneurship, and campus organizations provide many ways to build experience.
Co-op admission and employment are competitive. Sauder states that students are not simply matched to an employer; they must apply, interview, and secure roles with program support.
Turn the degree into a direction.
Graduates pursue accounting, finance, consulting, technology, marketing, operations, real estate, entrepreneurship, human resources, and other paths in Canada and abroad.
A specialization can signal interest, but internships, technical ability, projects, communication, and relationships often shape outcomes just as much as the title on the transcript.
Vancouver provides access to technology, real estate, consumer, natural-resource, entrepreneurial, and Asia-Pacific-facing organizations, while national recruiting still requires early preparation.
Budget the complete experience.
For 2026–27, UBC lists approximately $6,200.70 in domestic Year 1 Commerce tuition for 30 credits and $9,188.40 for 30 credits in Years 2–4. International Sauder BCom tuition is listed at approximately $66,678.30 for 30 credits.
These figures are tuition only and may vary by course load, year, status, and future increases. Add student fees, housing, food, books, travel, insurance, and any co-op-related charges; Vancouver housing can materially change the budget.
